Imagine if…
January 27, 2009
I had a taste of the “good life” yesterday at Lizard’s house. Parker, Bailey and I spent the morning with her and the boys and it just felt so GOOD. The kids adore each other and I love the heck out of my home slice Liz. We need to make the effort to do it more regularly. The 25-minute drive isn’t that big of a deal, but gee, wouldn’t it be incredible to only have to walk next door??
I love where I live. My neighbors are beyond rad, and cul-de-sac living is just about as good as it gets. That said, I can’t help but wistfully imagine what it would be like to have my best friend live right next door . We would have an “open door” policy between our two homes…kids would play together every day, we would have picnic lunches together in the backyard, spending time together when there is NO schedule. Just leisurely hanging out, chatting, watching the kids be kids, cooking meals together, waiting for the husbands to get home, and handing over kid-duty the millisecond they do… Wistfully, wistfully.

Dear Matthew, I adore you and think you are the most amazing man in the universe and I am thankful each and every day that you are my husband.
That said…
I have SUCH a crush on Jason Mraz.
He is absurdly talented and delightfully nerd-ish. I am thoroughly charmed.
Alicia, Chrystal and I went to see his concert on Saturday night and it was a GOOD time. It was one of my very first nights out since Bailey was born and I quickly realized it was long overdue.

Always love an opportunity to “sorority squat”. Alicia is a pro. I was taking note.

And a peek at the goodness: (um, is it legal for me to take video a concert?)
Hello, Autumn.
October 12, 2008
Ah, it’s that time of year again.
The temperature plummets from 97 to 92 degrees. The leaves on the trees turn from greenish-brown to just plain brown. And we make our annual visit to the Pumpkin Patch, to sweat it out among a sea of orange pumpkin piles. Rebecca-Linh, Jade, and Aja were able to join us and Parker was delighted to see his gals.
The highlight each year is undoubtedly the train. Where else can you pay $6 to wait in line for 30 minutes for a 4 minute ride? I’m already counting down the days until next year’s visit. ![]()
Nevertheless, we got our pumpkin pictures and it truly did make me realize that the holiday season is right around the corner!

RLR and the girls bought us this pumpkin. Just the right size!

Bellaire Seniors, Make Some Noiiiiiise!
October 5, 2008
It’s hard to believe that it has been ten years since Matt and I went to the Bellaire High School Senior prom….uh, Matt with Clarissa and me with Andy.

Matt and I had a nice little evening out last night for his 10 year high school reunion. It would have been a great occasion to sort of unwind and throw back a few drinks, but we flat out couldn’t afford it! $6.75 for a beer? Seriously?? It cost $65 a person just to get in, and that didn’t even include dinner – only “heavy hor’dourves”. (like pound cake. get it?… get it??)
Surprisingly, even entirely sober, it was still fun to hang out with Andy, Sam, and Brandon again. All that was missing was the big red Suburban. (and Chuck, for goodness sake! Where were you, dude?)

Well hello there, our little golden friend. It had, indeed, been too long.

A little slice of the c/o ’98

I know what you’re thinking and YES, a girl that cute really is going to marry Sam. On purpose!
